Between a client trip to New Orleans and Thanksgiving with my family in Baltimore, Julia and I checked out three Nordhavn trawlers with Ray Danet. One was a 2000 Nord 57 which was neglected and needed quite a bit of work. One was a very new Nord 47 in great shape but we thought it was too small for our purposes. The last was Nord 55.

 

We were not buying. We were just looking in case my life changed at some point in the future and I could go from living a hyper stressful, totally structured and pre-planned life as the CEO of a publicly traded company to something that would allow me the freedom to enjoy a comfortable trawler.

 

We bought the third boat, Nord 55 Hull #07, "5507" which was named South by West - we renamed her ¡VAMOS!

 

Only problem – when are we going to use this thing???

My life changed dramatically for the better. I was ready for a change and apparently so was my board of directors. We agreed I would resign as CEO effective March 31, 2017. Now I was going to have time for the boat!
